Adaptive Reuse Maven Deborah Berke Wins 2025 AIA Gold Medal -๐Ÿฅ‡/ ๐Ÿฅ‚/ ๐Ÿ“ฃ

๐Ÿฅ‡ ๐Ÿฅ‚ ๐Ÿ“ฃ Happy 2025 to Deborah Berke (FAIA, LEED AP) and her firm TenBerke on the 2025 AIA Gold Medal. Check out Berke’s mastery of adaptive reuse and historic re-contextualization on her 21c Museum Hotels projects, or the Richardson Olmsted Center, the former Buffalo State Asylum artfully transformed into a hotel/conference center.

I had the pleasure of meeting Deborah Berke at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 2013 when she kindly participated in our “Urban Industrial Real Estate 2.0” event, which we organized with the Urban Land Institute. She brought an incisive energy to the event, speaking on architecture’s ability to support the industrial economy while also reworking outmoded industrial facilities of the past.
Welcome!

A big win for Mrs. Berke, the AIA, and innovative historical renovations. Celebrate!
